I seemed to have stumbled upon the solution.
In Dashboard -> Manage -> Extensions
I found at least 2 extensions that didn't show as enabled. I simply selected and enabled all of them.
The one that I believe was causing my the trouble was the "Button - Module" which wasn't enabled.
Now things are working. I don't know how that got changed but I hope this might help someone else.
