Ok something I did not pay attention to at first sight. When I log into my admin console, in spite of the template override, the left panel is open. Yet, when I click on one of the items in the TopPhocaMenu, the left menu is reduced automatically. If I click again on the (PhocaMenu) tab "home dashboard", the left panel opens again. So the left panel is connected to this "home dashboard" tab apparently. And the template override seems to be overlooked when the Home Dashboard is selected (which makes sense that when I log into my admin console, it is open as the admin console homepage is the Home Dashboard).
